In order to compete in Group 5 of the FIA category, Porsche designed a version derived from the famous Porsche 911 Turbo road car and equipped it with special engine and chassis solutions.
Various versions were developed for racing. Particularly famous was the Porsche 935J "Baby", which was built for participation in the German Racing Car Championship in the two-litre category.
The Porsche "Baby" had a lighter chassis with which a total weight of only 735 kg could be achieved in order to comply with legal regulations.
An air-cooled 1.425 cc engine with an output of 261 kW was used.
In 1977, the car won a great victory on the Hockenheim race track, proving that it was developed on a solid technical basis.
