The floor model is a replica of the US Vought F4U-1A Corsair. The F4U-1, which entered service in 1942, was constantly improved due to various shortcomings, so that the improved F4U-1A variant was subsequently produced. These improvements included a longer tailwheel leg, which allowed better visibility, and a new canopy, so that all-round visibility was improved. The TAMIYA model kit version impresses with its accuracy of fit as well as its attention to detail.
