The floor model is a replica of the F-51D Mustang North American. The F-51 was perfectly suited for the Korean conflict, as well as for working with forward air controllers. The main drawback of the fighter was the vulnerability of the F-51's cooling fluids. The F-51 was designed for anti-aircraft and small arms fire against ground units. However, this led to the Mustang having the highest damage rate of all aircraft in Korea due to its vulnerability. In three years of service there, 194 of the fighters were flightless and of these only 10 aircraft were shot down.
