The floor model is a replica of the F-5E aircraft of the Swiss Air Force. The F-5E Tiger II was developed in the early seventies by the American company Northrop as a direct development of its predecessor and was characterised by higher performance, better manoeuvrability and better air-to-air performance. Its real strength, however, lay in its low production and maintenance costs compared to good combat effectiveness. Because of its cost-performance ratio, the F-5E was chosen to equip the fighter squadrons of several air forces.

Among these countries, the Swiss Air Force considered the F-5E suitable to meet the unique characteristics required by the Alpine country. It was also produced under licence by the Helvetic country. The F-5 Tiger II is armed with two 20 mm. guns installed in the nose and it can use a variety of attack loads on its hardpoints.
