The Opel Blitz was the most important German truck in the Second World War. It was used on all fronts and in large numbers and is rightly considered the real "beast of burden" of the Wehrmacht. The chassis, the robust suspension with rigid axles and leaf springs and the rear axle with twin wheels could carry a payload of over 3 tonnes.

The easy-to-maintain 3,600 cc Opel engine delivered 75 hp. The most common was the 4x2 version with rear-wheel drive. However, there was also a 4x4 version that was used in the Russian steppe as well as in the African desert. The Opel Blitz was produced in several thousand units thanks to its versatility and large rear cargo space and was also used for tasks other than pure transport, for example as a mobile command post with radio systems for transmitting orders and coordinating troops on the battlefield.
