The M-110 series of self-propelled artillery pieces provided the backbone of the field artillery of the American Army and the Allied armies for many years. They entered service in the 1960s, but thanks to improvements made from 1977 onwards, improved operational efficiency was achieved over time in the M-110 A1 version. The M-110 A1 was equipped with the new long-range 203 mm M201 howitzer, capable of using a wide range of ammunition. The project featured an excellent mix of firepower and mobility on any terrain, which was achieved by optimising the hull, which the M-107 also had. It was used in artillery divisions to provide supporting fire, artillery duels and engagement of enemy positions. It was widely used during the Lebanon conflict and during the first Gulf War.
