The North American P-51 Mustang is without doubt one of the most famous aircraft in Air Force history and is considered one of the best single-seat fighters with a traditional piston engine of the Second World War. The P-51A was one of the earliest versions produced and was used in missions as early as 1942. It was equipped with a new Allison V-1710 engine, which provided considerable power and enabled the aircraft to reach a top speed of over 650 km/h. The armament consisted of four Browns and four Browns. Armament consisted of four Browning 12.7 mm machine guns installed in the wings. The aircraft's already considerable range could be increased by the use of two wing tanks. The P-51A was used by the U.S. Air Force and the British Royal Air Force under the designation Mustang Mk. II and immediately achieved excellent results in air defence, bomber escort and tactical support missions.
