The floor model is a replica of the Douglas F4D Skyray developed on the basis of information held by US forces. This was the only operational interceptor with delta wings in the US Navy. The first prototype of the F4D took off on its maiden flight in 1951. The Skyray immediately set new standards in 1953 with a top speed of 1,211 Km/h. With numerous improvements, the F4D-1 variant then joined the squadron in June 1954. The distinctive 50-degree swept wing with round tips was fitted with leading edge slats and trailing edge lifts.
