Armed with a 75mm M3 cannon and powered by a 350hp Continental R975-C1 air-cooled radial engine, the M4A1 Sherman reached a top speed of 38.6km/h. Production began in July 1942. Production started in July 1942, but five months later the successor, the M4A1, was already produced.
