Product Description
The Churchill medium tank was commissioned by the British Army in 1942 to support and replace the earlier Valentines, Matildas and Crusaders models, all of which were by then outdated and inadequate in terms of armour and armament and easily fell victim to the more advanced Deutsche Panzer tanks. Equipped with thick armour and a reliable engine, it proved robust and dependable and was later produced in increasingly efficient, improved versions. Its chassis also served as a platform for special auxiliary vehicles such as the minesweeper, the bridge layer and the flamethrower.
