The floor model is a replica of the Sparviero aircraft.
This elegant three-engined aircraft was originally developed by the Italian aviation industry in the mid-1930s to establish fast postal connections with African colonies. Record speed versions were soon developed. Its high-speed performance caught the world's attention when it was used in a purely military role as a bomber and was used extensively as a torpedo bomber in the Mediterranean during World War II, despite poor defensive weapons and crew protection.
