COBI-2621 - Merkava Mk. 1/2, model, 830 parts, 10 years and up

Merkava Mk. I/II has been faithfully reproduced from 830 COBI building blocks and realistically reproduces the look of its museum counterpart. Moving elements such as the tank's turret and tube, rotating wheels and tracks and opening hatches allow all fans of building blocks and the military to enjoy the model. The tank's engine has also been reproduced and can be viewed by opening the service hatch. Thanks to the intuitive instructions, assembly is easy and exciting. Every adult lover of history and military technology will certainly enjoy adding this model to his collection. Thanks to the model scale of 1:35, the tank matches the other vehicles in the Armed Forces series and fits perfectly with the Leopard 2A4, Leopard 2A5 and Abrams.

In cooperation with the German Tank Museum Münster, COBI has created a model of a museum-quality copy of the Merkava Mk. I/II. The Merkava is the first main battle tank to be developed and manufactured in Israel. Series production began in 1979 and since then four generations have been built. The tank is used exclusively by the Israel Defense Forces and has been involved in all military conflicts and operations that took place after the Yom Kippur War and in which the State of Israel was involved.
The tank was designed according to very specific IDF requirements.
First and foremost, it provides very good protection for an extremely valuable tank crew for Israel. The engine is located at the front, is easily accessible and provides additional protection for the crew. The turret and the fighting compartment are located at the rear of the tank. The turret is wedge-shaped and the hull has a low profile, which facilitates missile bouncing. The improved 105 mm M68 gun provides high firepower. The empty ammunition compartment allows for troop transport. The Merkava II tank was equipped with, among other things, reinforced armour, side walls and a better fire control system. The Merkava II tanks were probably finally replaced by the 3rd and 4th generation in 2021.
