Sopwith Camel F.1, model, 176 parts, from 8 years old
The Sopwith F.1 Camel is the most famous British fighter aircraft from the First World War. It was designed and built by the Sopwith Aviation Company. This aircraft gained fame due to its high combat efficiency and manoeuvrability. Sopwith Camel was allowed to fight effectively with German aircraft for supremacy in the air. Camel fighters shot down a total of 1,294 enemy aircraft during the war. By mid-1918, Camel fighters were becoming somewhat obsolete due to insufficient speed and poor performance at higher altitudes. They were thus intended for attacks on ground targets, they also served as support for infantry and harassed German ground troops.
This model is piloted by a figure inspired by that of William Barker. The Canadian is the most famous pilot of Sopwith Camels. The Camel he piloted was the most effective fighter in RAF history. Barker shot down 46 aircraft and observation balloons in one year of service!
The model made from COBI building blocks carefully recreates a historic aircraft from the First World War era in the new 1:32 scale. It has a movable propeller, ailerons and spinning wheels.
