Product Description

Yamato (jap. 大和) - a battleship built during World War II and served in the Imperial Japanese Navy. This is the first Yamato-class battleship, which, together with its sister ship Musashi, was the largest battleship built in human history. The main idea behind building such powerful warships was the arms race with the US, which dominated the Pacific. Construction of the Yamato began in 1937 and was commissioned on 16 December 1941, a week after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The ship was armed with, among other things, nine monstrous 460-mm guns. Its overall length was 263 metres, beam 38.9 metres, draught 11 metres and displacement 65,000 tons. It reached a top speed of 27 knots (50 km/h). Almost 2,500 people served on the ship. It was sunk on 7 April 1945 in a major battle by American torpedo planes and bombers.

The Yamato battleship is a huge model made of COBI bricks. Like other warships, it was designed in a 1:300 scale model. The latest edition is even more faithful to its historical prototype, down to the smallest detail. After assembling the 2,665 elements, the total scale is 90 cm long and 19.5 cm high. It has many movable elements, such as: board guns and anti-aircraft batteries, rotating artillery turrets, rudders and propellers. The set includes a special display stand with a plate on which the name of the ship is printed. A nice addition is a unique emblem imitating the Golden Orchid, i.e. the imperial symbol that adorned the bow of the ship. The model is perfect for all lovers of history, military, navy and military technology. It looks great and arouses admiration and interest! Thanks to the intuitive instructions based on clear symbols, the construction is simple and easy. The estimated time to build a model is about 8 hours while making history!
