The special feature of the model, however, is the drive. It is powered by a rubber band motor. This transfers its energy to a drive wheel. With the rubber band motor fully tensioned, the model can travel 1.5 - 3 m, depending on the surface. An asymmetrical pair of wheels rotates, creating rocking motions of the harbor tug that imitate the rocking of a ship in waves. At the same time, a working pendulum produces a sound very similar to that of a ship's diesel engine. This makes the Ugears model almost perfect.
