Cobra Drift Race Car

We know you enjoy car modelling and love the Ugears models Dream Convertible, the Roadster and the U-9 Grand Prix car. So make room on your shelf for a powerful new mechanical model that has just been added to the Ugears automotive collection. Introducing the Cobra Drift race car, a two-seat convertible with sleek lines inspired by possibly the most famous sports car of all time: the Shelby Cobra 427. Produced between 1965 and 1967, the Cobra 427 featured a 7.0-litre 450-510 hp engine, accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in little more than 4 seconds and had a top speed of 260 km/h.

With its powerful spring drive, the Cobra Drift race car from Ugears has more horsepower under the bonnet than any other mechanical wooden model we know. The model is wound up with the help of a key under the chassis. Before you wind up your 3D wooden model Cobra Drift racing car, move the air filter that extends from the bonnet to the windscreen and turn the switch in front of the passenger seat to the locked position (parallel to the door). Then turn the key under the car. After 6 to 6.5 turns, the spring is fully wound and it starts - hum, hum, hum - your racing car is ready to roar! Move the gear lever between the driver's and passenger's seat to the desired position (reverse, neutral, forward). To start the model, place it on a flat surface, push the air filter forward and your Cobra drifts off at full throttle (when starting, the wheels must be turned in a sideways direction), drives in circles or darts along the course in a straight line.

For us, this 3D puzzle / DIY model is a gem, with wide tyres, curved shapes (thanks to the parts precisely pre-cut with laser in 1 mm thick plywood), its wide radiator grille and its open convertible design. The movable parts of the wooden car include the rotating front wheels, the opening doors, and the bonnet and boot lid that can be folded open. Instead of a rubber band motor, we have used a powerful spring mechanism to give this racing car its power and extend the life of the model. Thanks to the locking mechanism, you don't have to hold the key when winding up - with every turn, the potential energy is stored, without any losses, until the strong spring inside is completely tensioned. To put the model into drift mode, turn the front wheels completely in one direction or the other. Then place it on a smooth surface (e.g. tiles) and your model will drift sideways (ideally, depending on the surface and the angle of rotation of the wheels, it should perform half to one full rotation before continuing). If the wheels are set to straight position, the model will travel a considerable distance - 8 metres or more! If you turn the wheels in less or place the race car on a less smooth surface, your Cobra Drift will perform two or three full circular movements.
