German Hanseatic League, Latin: Hansa Teutonica, is the name of a medieval union of Lower German merchants. Cities that joined the merchants' and cities' association of the Hanseatic League are called Hanseatic cities. The players try to increase their reputation as merchants during the times of the Hanseatic League. There are different ways to do this: establishing branches in as many cities as possible or even building a coherent network can be just as promising as improving your own merchant skills.
The players carry out actions during their turn. They can use their traders on the game board, move them or even oust opposing traders. If they succeed in occupying all the connection points between two cities, they can set up a trade route and establish a branch. In some cities, instead of occupying a settlement, a player may develop one of their traits. This allows him to act more effectively in the course of the game. The player with the most prestige points wins the game.
