Doppelkopf, German deck - ASS Altenburger
The game is about the same as skat: it's about taking tricks and getting points (also called eyes). The aim of the game is to get more than half of the points (i.e. 120).
An essential attraction of the game is not to know who you are playing with at the beginning, but to find it out during the game (or not). Normally, the two players who have a Queen of Clubs (or Ober of Acorns) play together (the Re side), and the two other players form the Kontra side. However, there are a number of special games in which this rule is suspended.
