The Curse of the Black Boar The Black Boar Inn is undoubtedly one of the most famous inns in German role-playing history! Countless players found their way into the world of pen and paper role-playing games and into the world of The Dark Eye: Aventuria through the phrase Grotho, Garax, Grotho Greifax, Graf von Gratenfels. To mark the 40th anniversary of The Dark Eye, we would like to pay another visit to the inn at the foot of the Koshmountains near the small town of Gratenfels. This anthology contains four adventures: The original Im Wirtshaus zum Schwarzen Keiler oder Die Schänke des Schreckens from 1984 by Werner Fuchs throws the heroes headlong into a race for life and death through a dungeon from the early days of The Dark Eye. In The Secret of the Black Boar from 1997, Thomas Finn takes the heroes back to the inn where many a hero’s career began. In the course of the adventure, the heroes uncover a centuries-old secret that could explain the reason for the existence of the extensive cellars beneath the inn. To mark the 30th anniversary of The Dark Eye, Tobias Töpp and Maria Eckervogt’s Unheil im Schwarzen Keiler is the first adventure to be published in a retro format in the original version of The Dark Eye as it appeared in the 1984 adventure base game. The adventure continues the ludicrous story of the original adventure and expands it with very classic-nostalgic, but also modern elements, and lets the heroes once again explore the corridors and caverns beneath the inn. The final scenario, Thunderstorm Night by Nikolai Hoch, also begins in the Wirtshaus zum Schwarzen Keiler. What initially appears to be a bandit hunt soon reveals itself to be an old legacy from the time of the Priest-Emperors and develops into a confrontation with the servants of a power that has accompanied The Black Eye since its early days. The four adventures are accompanied by essays that provide insights into the significance of the inn in the forty-year history of The Dark Eye, the creative process and the adventure design. The adventures Im Wirtshaus zum Schwarzen Keiler and Unheil im Schwarzen Keiler correspond to the DSA1 rules and contain pre-rolled heroes. A short version of the rules is included in Unheil im Schwarzen Keiler. The Secret of the Black Boar follows the rules of DSA3. Gewitternacht is an adventure of the 5th edition of The Black Eye.
