In ancient halls, such as the dilapidated Silem Horas Library in Selem or the Scholarly Room, the library of the main temple of the Church of Hesinde, treasures are stored that are not made of gold and silver, but of paper and parchment. Books are a precious commodity in Aventuria, as they often contain valuable knowledge, magic theories and secrets of great significance. Many works serve guild mages as a treasure trove of new spells, scholars to deepen their research, or the Horasian patrician for entertainment. Notorious books, such as the Chronicles of Ilaris, Borbarad’s Testament or the Thirteen Praises of the Nameless are almost universally regarded as sinister or even forbidden works. Hardly any Aventurian, however, can escape the fascination of books and many an author of exciting adventure stories is celebrated like a hero.

The Aventurian Library contains more than two hundred books, including magical works, specialised literature and pure entertainment. All important data about a book is clearly recorded so that the reader can learn more about authors, format, page numbers, contents and availability. In addition, the Aventurian Library also deals with topics such as book printing, inks and paper, famous Aventurian authors and, of course, libraries. Besides rules for reading, writing and printing books, there is also extensive material on designing book titles, legality and random tables for special features of books.
