The floor model is a replica of the Thunderbolt P-47 aircraft, which was the first single-seat fighter to have a supercharger, enabling the P-47 to fly at the same altitude as the bombers. This enabled the P-47 to escort and defend the bombers using the eight 12.7mm machine guns mounted. Due to the drop tank which was also attached, it was possible for the P-47 fighters to overcome these distances.
