The floor model is a replica of the US M8 howitzer. During the Second World War, the M8 was developed as a self-propelled howitzer. The howitzer used the chassis of the M5 and had an open turret armed with a 75 mm howitzer and a 12.7 cm M2 machine gun. From September 1942 to January 1944, about 1,800 units were produced with M8 action from mid-1943. They were used on the Italian and Northwest European fronts as well as in the Pacific for fire support duties. The TAMIYA model kit version impresses with its accuracy of fit as well as its attention to detail.
