The Type 166 had a watertight chassis and an air-cooled 4-cylinder engine of 1,130 cm³ and 25 hp built into the rear, which enabled it to reach a top speed of 80 km/h on land. In the water, the vehicle was moved by a propeller and could reach speeds of up to 10 km/h.
