Among the Panzer IV tanks that supported the German army during the Second World War, the Type F was the last model to be equipped with a 7.5 cm gun with a short barrel. In addition to improved protection compared to the predecessor model (Type E), wider tracks were also introduced to take account of the vehicle’s greater weight. From May 1941 to February 1942, 470 vehicles were produced, which were mainly deployed on the Eastern Front and the North African Front. Among them, the vehicles sent to North Africa fought tenaciously against heavily armoured Allied tanks such as the British Matilda. He won the confidence of the soldiers.
