Nine coloured stone tiles and numerous formation options – these simple ingredients are what make the tactical placement game “Hidden Stones” so fascinating. Several awards (Mensa Select, Dice Tower), which the original American version has already won, show just how captivating this strategic challenge, which can also be played in solo mode, is.

The rules for “Hidden Stones” are quickly explained and once the nine attractively illustrated stone tiles have been arranged in a 3 x 3 grid, you can start playing straight away. The aim is to change the existing arrangement of the stones so that they match a formation depicted on one of your four cards. In order to achieve this goal, several actions are allowed per turn, but they come at a price in the form of a card in your hand. Which card should you sacrifice and which should you use later in exchange for profitable points? Careful consideration and clever tactics are therefore the order of the day in “Hidden Stones”!
To form a formation, you can, for example, swap the positions of two stone tiles that are directly next to each other or turn a coloured stone over to a different coloured reverse side. If the arrangement and orientation match, the corresponding hand card can be redeemed. The tactical fun is won by the player who has scored the most points for the cards collected after around twenty minutes of play.

With a reduced number of cards, the clear game rules also include a solo version.
