Teamwork and good communication are paramount in Sync or Swim. In order to offer the audience a breathtaking routine, the players have to compete together as a team of synchronised swimmers.
In each of the five rounds, they receive instructions, e.g. “same colour”. Then the timer starts and the group must now coordinate under high pressure to perform this element successfully. Passing cards and even diving for new cards is allowed. Once the first element has been completed in the allotted time, e.g. everyone has laid the “same colour”, the next round begins and a new instruction is given, e.g. “even numbers”. This now applies in addition to the first instruction already on display. If the group completes the entire freestyle in round five, they win.
