The floor model is a recreation of the British infantry unit during the Second World War. On 6 June 1944, General Dempsey’s troops of the British Expeditionary Force, consisting of the 3rd and 50th British Divisions and the Canadian 3rd Division, landed on the beaches of Normandy with the code name Sword, Juno and Gold. So D-Day had come. The British Expeditionary Force was to land and quickly take over the city of Caen. Americans landing at Omaha and Utha in the west were to take control of the Cotenin Peninsula and the port of Cherbourg.
