The trucks of the Mercedes-Benz SK series (“Heavy Class”) were produced from the end of the 1980s. The series is a direct development of the earlier NG models. Among other things, the cab was improved to offer more comfort on long routes. Reliability was also sustainably increased through the introduction of new technical and electronic solutions. Compared to the previous series, the design was also significantly modernised. The market appreciated the SK series vehicles for their reliability, robustness and operational flexibility in all types of use. The great commercial success of the series resulted in exceptional longevity. At the end of the 1990s, the SK models were replaced by the first versions of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros.
