Aspiring painter Alden Oakes is invited to join a mysterious art commune in Arkham: the New Colony. When celebrated Spanish surrealist Juan Hugo Balthazarr visits the colony, Alden and the other artists quickly fall under the charismatic man’s spell. Balthazarr invites Arkham’s social elite to a series of decadent parties, during which he conjures up mysterious illusions that blur the lines between nightmare and reality. In the process, Alden gradually comes to suspect that Balthazarr’s rituals may be more than make-believe, and may actually be aimed at breaking through those boundaries to unleash what lurks beyond. Alden must act, but it may already be too late to save himself – let alone Arkham.
