The M24 Chaffee is an American light tank from the Second World War. In 1944-1945, 4,731 units were produced. It successfully replaced another M3/M5 Stuart light tank. The Chaffee was equipped with welded armour, two engines and a 75 mm gun, which had previously been developed for the B-25 Mitchell bomber. It was the first Western Allied tank to use torsion bar suspension. It happened that soldiers opened fire on their own tanks because the Chaffee chassis resembled the German Panzer II and Panther. The tank was used in battles in France, Italy and the Third Reich. After the war, it remained in service with American troops. It enjoyed great popularity and found many buyers around the world. The M24 was also used in the Korean War. Copies of France fought in Indochina and Algeria. They were used by the South Vietnamese Army in the Vietnam War. Apparently they are still in service with the Uruguayan army today!

From 590 COBI building blocks you can build a perfectly reproduced model of the M24 Chaffee light tank. The model has a working track, a rotating turret and a movable barrel. There are two dummy engines under the maintenance hatch. The turret has an opening hatch and a machine gun. The model has permanent prints that will not wear out even with intensive play.

The set includes two figures of American soldiers. The first character is a tank commander equipped with an M3 machine gun (Lubricator) and binoculars. He is accompanied by a tank mechanic with a spanner. Both soldiers wear a new tank headset!
