Who is the most cowardly chicken at the table?
Cards are turned up one after the other in the hope that your own card will match. Turn over another card and risk taking all the cards from the centre and therefore most likely also minus points? Or would you rather play it safe and take the top card from the discard pile instead? Someone shouts “Cowardly chicken!” – and suddenly the decision is a lot trickier.
How to play Cowardly Chicken! MBE3:
– Put 3 cards aside unseen and divide the remaining cards evenly between you.
– On your turn, you turn over the top card of your face-down pile and place it in the middle of the table.
– If there is already a card in the middle of the table, you try to play either the same colour or a lower number. If you manage to do this, it’s the next person’s turn. If you don’t succeed, you go bust and have to take all the cards in the centre of the table.
– If you don’t want to lay a card, you can alternatively drop out. To do so, take the top card of the discard pile.
– But watch out: Everyone else can shout “Cowardly chicken!” at you and challenge you. If a person challenges you, they can give you the top card of their pile if you drop out.
– If a person has no more cards, the game ends. Now turn over the three cards you have set aside. Each of your remaining cards that matches one of these three card values is worth one minus point for you.
-Whoever has the fewest minus points after three rounds wins!
